Henry Lane Stone Civil War Diary

This one item collection is an 1864 pocket diary primarily written by Henry Lane Stone, who took the diary from a Union soldier he had captured on February 14, 1865. Stone was part of the Confederate States of America Army, Company D of the 9th Kentucky Calvary.  This diary records the final months of the war and immediately after as his unit was part of the forces escorting Jefferson Davis after the surrender. This diary is in very poor condition with some pages missing, torn and fragmented.
