Libyně Church - Museum of Stained Glass

The Baroque church of St. Giles in Libyně was heavily devastated before it was bought for 1 CZK by Jitka and Jiří Kant back in 2007. These two local artists of stained-glass wanted to repair the ruins, to restore the church and to turn it into the museum of stained-glass. They established the Association for the preservation of the church and involved the local community into the repair works (volunteers, craftsmen etc.). They are equipping the church with replicas of historical stained-glass art-works (windows, ceilings). The church is regurarly opened from April to November, occassionally opened during some local cultural events (concerts, plays). It is the only stained-glass museum in the Czech Republic.
