The ambition of the ROCK project is the transformation of historic city centres, in various localities in Europe, by implementing a series of heritage-led regeneration initiatives. It is based on the idea that successful models of urban regeneration can be replicated. To this puprose, the project intends to develop and apply a 'circular urban system model' ('the Rock Circle') able to address the specific needs of historic city centres that are embarking upon processes of transformation. Through knowledge sharing and mentoring strategies, as well as piloting actions, the project aims to achieve, among other goals, increased awareness and participation in local decision-making processes and wider civic engagement, while fostering businesses and new employment opportunities.
