Through various projects that have been inter-institutional, inter-university and interdisciplinary work for more than twenty uninterrupted years, it seeks to contribute to the study of the diversity of the pre-Hispanic, colonial and republican hunting, gathering and production landscapes of this sector of northwestern Argentina, serving to the idea that the past-present break is an obstacle to understanding past and emerging processes. The common objective is to reconstruct the historicity of the practices of production and social reproduction, in order to establish dynamics of change and continuity on a long-term scale. Until now, various studies have been carried out on the Valle del Bolsón and Los Morteritos-Las Cuevas -as practically unknown from the archaeological and environmental point of view until the beginning of our investigations-, based on intensive coordinated surveys, thematic mapping in GIS and excavations at various sites in the valley. It has thus been possible to reconstruct significant aspects related to pre-Hispanic agriculture; settlement variability, and aspects of the colonial occupation process and its productive reorientation. The interesting results obtained lead us to expand these lines of research by integrating the studies of the old peasantry with lines of research aimed at generating an environmental history of the valley.

As another line of research -and not just transfer- they are raised in terms of social articulation, research on conservation and dissemination of historical and archaeological heritage, identity, oral history, community radio, rural community museum and other tourist or productive projects carried out in together with local cultural managers, the educational community and different families from the valleys of El Bolsón and Los Morteritos-Las Cuevas.
