Weaving Museum and Craft-Workshop – Trutnov

In 2010, the House under the Ash Tree -- the Museum of Weaving -- was established by the Public Association led by the owner of the house, a keen craftswoman interested in weaving on the loom - a local traditional craft specific to the region. They gathered historic craft tools (looms) and other equipment of the museum, cooperated with the Municipality and the Region, contacted and employed other weaving craftsmen to host regular periodical weaving events and public presentations. The weaving lessons run by the museum's employees were acknowledged by the National Ministry of Education as a educational certificate of crafts-qualification, which helps unemployed people to get a job in crafts, and to sell their products. It also represents the region's traditional, typical and once-famous craft. The museum became a local educational centre, offering lessons and participative programmes for students, presenting other traditional crafts (pottery, basketry, wiring, spinning, hand-made paper) and traditional life in the hilly area next to The Giant Mountains.
